A block diagram and information on AMD low-power Mendocino APU confirms its specifications.

The slide was first posted on a (closed?) WeChat group and then reposted by Chiphell. From there, Twitter user Olrak29_ managed to find the original slide which lists AMD Mendocino specifications.

AMD’s new low-power processor for FT6 socket with an estimated die size of 100 mm² is officially set to launch in the fourth quarter. This APU is targeted at mainstream and educational systems where low platform cost is a priority. Following a rumor from Weibo, claiming that Mendocino is the first APU to feature integrated RDNA2 GPU with only 2 Compute Units, the slide that has just leaked appears to confirm it:

This quad-core APU would feature a combination of Zen2 and RDNA2 architectures, similarly to Valve’s Steam Deck handheld console. With the announcement of AYANEO Air Plus console, one might have assumed that similar graphics capability could be expected from Mendocino. However, AMD have confirmed that those are two different silicons and therefore unlikely to feature similar graphics performance. The slide confirms that Mendocino will indeed have 2 Compute Units (so 128 Stream Processor), which is significantly less than Steam Deck with 8 Compute Units (512 cores).

Furthermore, it’s now confirmed that Mendocino will support two x32 LPDDR5 channels with capacities from 4GB up to 32GB. The VCN3.0 media engine will support AV1 and VP9 decoding, making it just as capable as Rembrandt APU for Ryzen 6000 series.

It is also worth noting that a website called Angstronomics claims that Ryzen 7000  will also offer 2 Compute Unit configuration of RDNA2 graphics. The company confirmed that such configuration should provide basic display output capability with support for media playback and video decoding, but unfortunately it will not be gaming capable.
